Teacup Yorkie Information
Many people think that "Teacup" Yorkies are not actually a specific category within the Yorkie breed, but rather just weak runts from standard Yorkie litters. In some cases, where the breeding is careless or the genetics of the breeding stock is not as strong as it should be, that is true. In such a situation, the result can often be a smaller Yorkie puppy that is especially high-strung. The breeder in this case may advertise the Yorkie puppy as a Teacup Yorkie puppy to make it more appealing to customers. Personally, I dislike teacup sized yorkies. I DO NOT try to breed for these tiny puppies. "Teacup" Yorkies aren't real. It's just a special name given to Yorkies smaller than average size. They come with many problems and they also are very, very small. Sometimes, we will have our 7-12lbs adults produce these. I am very careful where they are placed. I honestly would never place one in a home with someone with small children, nor would I sell this small of a pup to a breeder. Period. When you breed something of this size, You have a higher risk of losing puppies and having to have C-sections. Yorkies were 30 pound dogs. The advantage of having a yorkie 6-12pound/s is that they are not as fragile. Also, if bred, more puppies and less problems. If you drop them, that may be critical! We recommend you get a Yorkie 6-12 pound/s!!!
